How Salesforce CRM works. And who should use it?

Many people know that Salesforce is the #1 CRM today and is considered the industry standard but knowing those things isn’t enough to assess how SF will help a business.


Here are some basic facts to help us understand how the SF CRM works and who should use it:


SF is a SaaS. Salesforce is a Software-as-a-Service, meaning you subscribe to it and pay a fee to use the product. Salesforce is accessed via the internet which gives its users more freedom and mobility. To use SF, users only need to go online and log in their SF account--no need to install any program or buy any special piece of hardware.


SF is more than just a CRM. Salesforce offers a wide array of service, and its CRM for sales is just one of the seven product categories. Other SF products involve solutions for marketing, service, cloud-based app development, community/partner management, AI and analytics, and also IoT.


The main advantage of having everything over the cloud is accessibility, mobility, and real-time analysis of your sales data.


The SF Sales Cloud comes with advanced functions for accelerating your sales funnel. Some of these features include lead scoring (for bridging marketing campaigns and sales action), opportunity management (for tracking and improving customer interactions), and Einstein AI (AI that enables your CRM to make smart decisions for reps).


The SF CRM can be boosted with other app integrations. Salesforce is known for being a flexible platform. That is, it allows various integrations with other apps and systems to further enhance the business process. Some popular examples of SF add-ons include computer-telephony integration software (Tenfold), email automation apps (MailChimp) and document processing solutions like DocuSign.


For the question, “Who should use Salesforce?” our answer would be any enterprise that’s interested in boosting their customer relationship management strategy. Implementation-wise, the usual CRM users in an organisation would be sales associates and managers, customer service reps, and even marketers.
